New Hackensack Reformed Church
The Shepherd Program “They will answer, “ Lord when did we see you hungry or
thirsty
or a stranger or naked and sick or in prison, and minister to you?.”
Then
he will answer them, “ Truly, truly I say to you, as you did it to the
least
of these, you did it to me. “ To help foster a caring community at New Hackensack, our church
has
a Shepherd Program. Our church families are grouped into 15 different
Shepherd areas each with Shepherd leaders. People in the Shepherd area
are called
upon to help meet a families needs when there is a serious illness , a
death,
a new birth, etc. They might help with cards, calls, meals, a funeral
reception,
etc. As members of God’s family we are able to carry out Jesus’s
teaching
to care for each other in very practical ways. In order for our church community to know each other better the
Shepherd Program tries to have a yearly gathering of the Shepherd
groups. The Shepherds over the years have also been helpful in
welcoming new members to the church.. The Shepherd Program is part of our Congregational Care
Program.
The Ministers, The Parish Health Nurse, the Prayer Chain, the
visitation
program, and the Shepherd Program all work together to meet the needs
of
our community. If your family has a need please let the church office
know.
