ProActive
Parenting Classes for Parents and Grandparents
Entitled "Communication with your Child or Teen" will be held on
Sundays at 9:15am in room 14, October 12th and 26th, and November 2nd
and 16th. This class will be lead by Mary and Ozzie
Mantilla. Let's face it - children don't come with an instruction
manual! In this fourth part of the ProActive Parenting DVD and
discussion series by national parenting advocate and speaker Jim
Williams, you will learn tools to become a better listener and to model
good communication techniques for the whole family.
The four sessions and dates are as follows:
Week 1, Sun, Oct. 12th: Recognizing the Barriers We Build
Week 2, Sun, Oct. 26th: Understanding Your Child's Ages and Stages
Week 3, Sun, Nov. 2nd: Learning Your Child's Communication "Style"
Week 4, Sun, Nov. 16th: Improving Communication in Your Home
Come and join us for as many classes as you can to strengthen your
parenting skills and knowledge. It's also a wonderful way to get
to know other NHRC parents, while your children are attending Church
School. Nursery care is available, although infants are always
welcome in the group. Sign up soon in the Gathering Area.
Questions? Call Mary Lou at ext. 105.
The School for Christian Living and
Serving
The School for
Christian Living and Serving, a ministry of the Mid-Hudson and
Orange Classes, is pleased
to announce the fall 2008 program - An
Introduction to the Spiritual Disciplines; Movers and Shakers of
Christian Fiath: Justin Martyr to
Thomas Aquinas, Part 1; An
Introduction and Survey of the Old
Testament and Incarnate 101 - A workshop on
Saturday, November 1st for Youth Leaders, Church
School Teachers and Leaders.
The aim of the School is to fulfill Christ's command to make disciples of all nations.
We endeavor to offer
training for adults that will deepen their faith and equip them to use
the gifts God has given them for ministry
within Christ's Church.
The school was established in 1994 and has grown steadily since by
offering a consistent slate of courses.
At the same time, the school has remained flexible with a spiritual ear
sensitively tuned to clergy, laity, and
the ever-changing needs of the congregations within its bounds.
This has resulted in an ever-broadening
range of Christian education courses offered for the serious student
and also for those who are simply
seeking additional knowledge on a particular Christian subject.
The School for
Christian Living and Serving is open and available to Christians
of all denominations. There
are no academic prerequisits except for those students on a study track
to become preaching elders.
Please take time to prayerfully consider if there is a course that you
would like to take this fall. (See the half
sheet insert in the center of the paper copy of this Church News for registration
information and pick up
a copy of full course descriptions and other educational opportunities
being offered this fall at the
Information Center in the Gathering Area.)
